1) Is registering a company in the court register enough to protect my brand name?
No. Registering a company/business does not provide automatic market protection of the name. To protect a sign on the market, a registered trademark is typically required.
2) What is a trademark and what can I protect?
A trademark is a right that protects a sign on the market (e.g. brand name, logo, product/service name). Depending on your strategy, you can protect a word mark (name), figurative mark (logo), or a combination.
3) How much can I save with EU SME Fund vouchers?
Through the SME Fund (EUIPO), it is possible to receive reimbursement of part of the fees, often up to 75% (depending on the call and rules). The correct sequence of steps is key (voucher before application).
4) Can I participate online if I am not in Rijeka?
Yes. The workshop takes place in Rijeka, with an option to join online from any location.
5) Do I need legal knowledge to attend the workshop?
No. The workshop is designed for entrepreneurs without a legal background and guides you through the process in a clear and practical way. After the workshop, IP specialists are available for any additional questions.
6) What should I prepare before attending (or joining online)?
It is recommended to have your brand name (and/or logo) or the name of a product you plan to launch or have already launched, an idea of the products/services it will cover, and a laptop.
If you plan to use the SME Fund, it is useful to prepare basic documentation according to the instructions you will receive after registering.
7) Will we actually go through the application step-by-step?
Yes. The workshop is practical: we work through public databases and a full “walkthrough” of the application process (DZIV or EUIPO), with a focus on common mistakes and critical points.
8) How often are workshops held and how many participants are in a group?
Workshops are organised once a year or on demand, in groups of up to 10 participants to ensure a personalised approach.
